There are journeys that are not just a change of place – but a change of feeling. Such were the three days that children without parental care, accompanied by professional staff from the Home in Tuzla, spent with the support of Foundation Second and the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo, first in the Small Family Home in Ledići, and then in Sarajevo.

After days spent in nature, filled with play, learning, and togetherness, a special ending followed – a visit to the capital city, designed to leave children with memories they will carry with them for a long time.
Sarajevo through children's eyes
The day began with a warm welcome and lunch at the well-known Sarajevo restaurant Ćevabdžinica Zmaj - Stanica, where the owners hosted the children and their caregivers with special attention. In a relaxed atmosphere, filled with conversation and laughter, the day full of activities began.

After lunch, members of the Mali Ambasadori Association organized a Sarajevo tour, led by tourist guide Faris. The tour was adapted to the children’s age – dynamic, engaging, and filled with stories that held their attention for more than an hour.

During the walk, the children got to know the most important landmarks of Sarajevo – from the impressive City Hall, through the lively Baščaršija, to the place where Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated, an event that marked the beginning of the First World War. A special impression was also left by the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and the Cathedral – symbols of the city’s diversity and richness.
Small moments that mean a lot
After the tour, the children had the opportunity to walk through shops and choose small souvenirs – little things that will remind them of this day and the feeling of being warmly welcomed.

A special moment followed thanks to the hospitality of the Inat House, whose owners prepared cakes and drinks for the children. With these small but carefully prepared treats, the children headed to the Yellow Fortress, where they ended their day overlooking Sarajevo. In the quiet beauty of that place, with a sweet bite and laughter, the circle of one special experience was complete.
Three days that stay
"So many activities fit into these three days," commented Munevera Džafić, a professional associate whom the children affectionately call Muni, summarizing what cannot truly be measured in words.
Because behind every trip, every walk, and every shared meal, there is something much more important – a sense of belonging, care, and the message that these children are not alone.

Foundation Second, together with its partners, continues to create such moments – quiet yet profound, which remain in children’s memories for a long time and stay as their small but meaningful stories.
