This past weekend, organized by Foundation Second, a group of girls aged 14 to 17 from the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo spent time in the village of Ledići, on the slopes of Mount Bjelašnica. Their stay in nature was filled with smiles, fun, and learning through daily activities, which the girls carried out either independently or with the support of the organizers.

They enjoyed walks through nature, visited a nearby waterfall, and the braver ones even took the opportunity to swim. A special highlight was preparing meals – each girl had the chance to participate in planning and cooking using the available ingredients. While the meals were diverse, the most excitement was sparked by making sweet potato and regular potato fries in a multicooker. In addition, the girls made pancakes, helped with the barbecue, and learned the basics of teamwork in the kitchen.

Joining the Foundation’s director, Belma Mujezinović, over the weekend were mualimas Anisa Jusić and Rukajja Alić from the Bistri Izvor Association, as well as student Meliha Crneta, who attends Qur’an classes within the association. Their presence and involvement further enriched the experience and supported the organization and preparations.
“Our goal is not only to provide a break from everyday life but to create an environment where the girls feel safe, accepted, and empowered. We want to teach them life skills while giving them space to express themselves, have fun, connect, and feel the joy of togetherness. Ledići is the perfect place for that – peace, nature, and a house that becomes a true home when filled with their voices and laughter,” said Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second.
Foundation Second plans to continue organizing such retreats for children and youth from the Home, believing that experiences like these are essential for their emotional development, building self-confidence, and creating positive memories that last a lifetime.
