Foundation Second is proud of its unique initiative of therapy with cats, which is carried out in the small family home in the village of Ledići on Bjelašnica. This therapy provides emotional support for children from vulnerable social categories, and the goal of the Foundation is to create a safe, love-filled space for children coming from various challenging life circumstances.
Cats, as pets that ask for nothing but attention, affection, and food, have an exceptionally calming effect on children. Aware of this, the representatives of the Foundation bring therapy cats to Ledići, although local cats and dogs have also become true friends of the users of this small family home. The children feed them, pet them, and joyfully welcome every visit.
During this year's Ramadan, a pregnant cat regularly visited the small family home in Ledići in search of food and attention. The girls from the Home for children without parental care in Sarajevo, who were staying in Ledići at the time as part of the Foundation’s program, took care of her, fed her, and showed her affection. Now, that same cat brings her three kittens for lunch. Volunteers are trying to tame them, although they are still a bit shy. This daily routine has become a symbol of care, attention, and mutual love between the children and the animals.
It is important to note that the therapy cats coming to Ledići were previously rescued from the streets, rehabilitated, and socialized so they could provide emotional support to the children. Representatives of Fondacija Second currently care for 16 cats, which are often members of their activities and programs. These cats are not only therapeutic helpers but also a symbol of hope and a new beginning for animals that were once neglected.
Therapy with cats is not just a physical activity, but a way for children to develop emotional stability and feel the love they need. Since animal therapy has been proven to be beneficial for children who have gone through difficult life circumstances, this initiative in Ledići carries deep significance.

Seeing how children care for animals and how they become real friends gives us the strength to continue expanding such initiatives. We are proud of each participant in this program because we believe that through such activities, children can develop emotional stability, trust, and, most importantly, a sense of security," said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.
