In April, we shared the story of a 14-year-old girl who urgently needed orthopedic shoes and her family, who live in extremely difficult socio-economic circumstances. The family was referred to Foundation Second through our cooperation with the Public Institution Educational Center of Sarajevo Canton, with which the Foundation has signed a Cooperation Agreement.

Thanks to the donors of Foundation Second, the necessary funds were raised at the time and the girl received the orthopedic footwear she needed. The family was also provided with basic food supplies and medication.

Several months later, the support continues.

Food assistance once again

Thanks to the donors of Foundation Second, a large quantity of basic food supplies was once again purchased for the family.

As with the previous assistance, the food was handed over to the mother at the premises of the Public Institution Educational Center of Sarajevo Canton.

The family lives on a very limited income, while a large portion of their available funds goes toward rent, utilities, and the children's basic needs. A substantial supply of food therefore provides significant relief for their household budget.

This form of assistance is part of the cooperation between Foundation Second and the Educational Center, through which we strive to respond promptly to the specific needs of children and families facing difficult life circumstances.

An earlier request was not forgotten

During the previous meeting, the mother asked for something that was particularly important to her – prayer dresses for her daughters.

Her request was not forgotten.

Along with the food supplies, the girls also received prayer dresses this time.

In a family where every available amount must first be directed toward food, housing, medical care, and other basic needs, even modest wishes often have to wait for better times.

That is why we were especially pleased that, thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to fulfill this wish of the mother as well.

From the garden in Ledići to their family table

Along with the purchased food supplies, the family also received fresh vegetables from the garden of the Small Family Home in Ledići.

The garden in Ledići is part of a space where children learn about nature, responsibility, planting, growing food, and the value of their own work through practical activities.

It gains even greater value when its produce can be shared with someone who needs it.

In this way, some of what was grown in Ledići this year reached the table of another family supported by Foundation Second.

Ledići thus becomes more than a place where children stay and take part in activities – it becomes a place from which kindness and support can spread further.

When there is not enough even for medicine

The mother has been dealing with various diagnoses and health difficulties for a long time, adding another burden to the already challenging everyday life of the family.

She recently suffered from pneumonia and needed a syrup that, due to the family's difficult financial situation, she was unable to afford.

Foundation Second also provided the medicine she needed.

Situations like this show what living in difficult socio-economic circumstances can mean in everyday life.

When a limited income has to cover rent, utilities, food, children's needs, and medical expenses, even going to the pharmacy and purchasing necessary medicine can represent a serious financial burden.

"You always help us when we need it most"

Despite all the difficulties the family is facing, the mother says that above all she is grateful to Allah, as well as to the people whose donations make it possible for help to arrive when it is needed most.

She particularly emphasized that Foundation Second has supported her family precisely during the moments when they were facing their greatest difficulties.

"I am grateful to Allah for everything. Alhamdulillah for every form of help that comes our way and for the good people who think of us and our children. You always help us precisely when things are most difficult and when we do not know how we will manage. I sincerely thank all the donors of Foundation Second. I make many duas for them. May Allah reward them for every good deed they do, grant them health, sustenance and blessings in their families, and return to them many times over everything they give to help us and other families in need," the mother said.

Support does not end with a single visit

This family is one example of why Foundation Second strives to build continuity in its support for families at risk.

The Foundation initially became involved because a 14-year-old girl needed orthopedic shoes. However, behind that one specific request was a family in need of much broader support.

That is why the assistance did not end with the purchase of the shoes.

This time, the family received a large quantity of food, prayer dresses for the girls, and the necessary medicine for the mother, while fresh vegetables from the garden of the Small Family Home in Ledići also reached their family table.

All of this was made possible thanks to the donors of Foundation Second.

Their donations enable the Foundation to respond not only when a major and urgent problem arises, but also when a family lacks the ordinary things that are essential to everyday life.

Sometimes help means a pair of orthopedic shoes. Sometimes it means a substantial supply of food. Sometimes it is medicine, a prayer dress, or vegetables from the garden.

But behind all of it is the same message:

You are not alone.
