This summer, Foundation Second is planning to organize a series of day trips and summer outings to the beautiful mountain village of Ledići for children from families at risk of separation, mostly due to difficult economic circumstances. Unfortunately, these are children who face challenging living conditions every day, where a carefree childhood, trips, and holidays are often an unattainable dream.
Most of them have never had the opportunity to visit the sea. Until now, they’ve only seen it in pictures or on video. Even local outings to parks, pools, or mountain villages are luxuries their lives have not afforded them.
That’s why we want to give them days filled with happiness, play, safety, and the simple joy of being a child during their summer break. We are planning group trips, time in nature, walks through the village, barbecues, and gatherings — and what they look forward to the most and wish for more than anything — swimming in a pool.
Our goal is to provide them with a high-quality, safe, and spacious pool, where they can swim, play, and cool off in the fresh mountain air. A larger pool is planned for the children, and a smaller one for the babies who will also be joining the outings.
For these children, this is much more than just a pool — it’s a chance to experience, for the very first time, the joy of swimming, splashing, and playing in the water with their peers, free from the worries and fears they face daily.
The children will be accompanied by their mothers, as well as representatives from the Family and child support service of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, who work tirelessly to preserve families and support those in need.
